Whilst it is not mandatory to use an accountant when running your own business, either as a sole trader, Limited company, partnership, or charity, it is advisable for a number of reasons:

Tax Compliance – an accountant will ensure you pay all the tax that is legally due so you do not fall foul of HMRC.
Tax Reduction – an accountant will ensure that you only pay the tax that’s you legally required of you. This can result in a reduction in your tax bill, as you may have been overpaying.
Budgeting & Planning – a good accountant should help you budget effectively and develop robust, yet flexible, business plans to help you achieve your goals.
Peace of Mind – this is perhaps the most important thing an accountant can offer you. When using a good accountant, you will have the reassurance you need, knowing that your tax bill is as low as is legally possible and that you are compliant with all tax legislation.
Time – producing and submitting accounts to HMRC is time consuming. It’s far more productive for you to outsource that to an accountancy practice like Higsons, so you can concentrate on running and growing your business.

Here at Higsons we put our clients first. We understand that time is always of the essence when you run your own business. This is why we always respond to enquiries within 24 business hours – maximum.

A professional who has successfully finished a demanding training and qualification programme in accounting and financial management is known as a chartered accountant. Typically, their duties include preparing financial statements, checking financial records, giving financial business advice, and making sure that all applicable rules and regulations are followed. Chartered accountants are frequently employed by government agencies, private businesses, or public accounting firms.

Digital accounting is simply accounting using special software like Freeagent, Quickbooks and Sage.  These systems, with the help of a professional accountant, can automate and provide efficiency savings alongside allowing both accountants and yourself to view accounts in real-time.  That being said we do not push you to use any system you do not wish to, and we are more than happy to take over your digital accounts to save you time.
